I’ll tell you what. For a short time, we have turned into what we could have potentially been or – why not – will still manage to be. We have cultivated skills – in some cases, with excellent results! Do you know those animal species that change over the centuries by adapting to their surrounding habitats?
This is what happened to modern-time lizards, that developed claws,
(Authoritative source documentary TV programme “Superquark”); and we too – who can somehow define ourselves as metropolitan animals – have discovered that we do have multiple potential. Many of us, not all of us, actually. In my specific case, things went differently…
Performance: I bought a deep fryer, made some awful doughnuts, and put it away in the cellar; I sanded an old deckchair that has been lying on the porch for months now; I made blatantly poorly-leavened pizzas; I also tried workout classes, but I got an inflamed sciatic nerve at the third one… I made some drawings.
Basically, I did well what I can do!
I’m more for specialisation than multi-potentiality. Maybe I will have a chance to evolve over time, or maybe, instead, that’s just how things should go!
Whatever the case, there are those who can do and those who want to do… we all agree with the new concept of home at the core of life – making it as comfortable and cosy as possible – don’t we? Considering last months’ requests, I would say “Sure!”
So, if you have a decent budget, little time and you are a bit clumsy at DIY jobs, ask a professional who will guide you on how to make the most of it. If, on the other hand, your budget is small and you have discovered your hidden gifts, dare! Make your houses look like you as much as possible!

What operations can transform your home in just a few steps?
• Colour: change the colour of the walls, perhaps not all of them, but enhance some of them. Colour is the easiest, most obvious method to turn around your home, and if you are afraid of making mistakes, remember the rule of 5 – no more than 5 different colours in a room. And then definitely hang something on those coloured walls – because colour is a good start, but you are always halfway through if a wall remains empty. No matter whether you choose black and white photographs, mirrors or frames – give your home some context, give the wall you have already revamped some new character.
• Change the cover on your sofa or the cushions. If your budget is small and the old dear sofa will have to last for some time, change its cover or even add a few colourful cushions. Remember the power of accessories: your sofa is like a black sheath dress in the wardrobe, match it with different shoes and bags each time, and it will always serve you well.
• Light: yes, lighting can indeed enhance some spots in your home and create cosiness. Add small suspensions with exposed fabric cables and they will become worthy decorative elements. However, remember to always choose the same light colour for the same room.
• Hateful tiles: they are the bitter enemy of those who want a cool house but can’t afford to replace them. I know, you have taken care of all details and then you go to your bathroom and the depression is back.
Cover them – you can do it yourself. There are tile glazes with high resistance that you can find at reasonable prices in DIY centres. One important thing: don’t do it on floors! Finally, if you really want to give a new lease of life to your bathroom… Can you imagine how wonderful having Santamargherita single large marble agglomerate slabs could be?
It can be done, we are gorgeous beings capable of anything. We know how to maximise our potential. And if your potential takes you in different directions … well, take a seat, I have a mortgage to pay!
