At Milan Design Week 2024, which was from 16-21 April, the world’s top brands and designers showcased their latest styles, trends, and ideas to the interior design world. There, each brand had a chance to fortify or rejuvenate their identity and make statements about what sets themselves apart.
For anyone who attended Milan Design Week this year, they might have noticed a recurring element throughout the displays and exhibitions: Santamargherita Surfaces. The original Italian surface was in six displays featuring over seven colors across three collections – SM Marble, Atmosfera, and Surfalite, and within both Saloni 2024 at the FieraMilano Complex, and Fuorisalone.
At Saloni, SM materials were utilized in three booths. The first was Lube Cucine, the Italian kitchen company from Treia. They featured SM Marble Nero Portoro in a silk finish.
Second was Vela Arredamenti. The design company displayed a table of SM Marble Palladio Moro.
The kitchen company Meson’s Cucine rounded out the Saloni displays with three SM Marble colors featured at their booth. Visitors saw an impressive display of Palazzo Foscari, Palazzo Pisani, and Palazzo Maffei – all in silk finishes – integrated into the booth’s kitchen designs.
Design enthusiasts could then venture out to downtown Milan, the center of Fuorisalone, and immerse themselves in the wide displays and events happening in the area. Here’s where attendees spotted SM materials at Fuorisalone:
At Maistri Cucine, visitors found one of the newest colors in the Surfalite and Atmosfera collections, Light Wafer. The display, designed by Cristian Viola, was an example of the power Santamargherita innovations have had on design trends by using 2 cm Atmosfera for the kitchen countertop and Surfalite 7MM cladding for the cabinets.
Just a little further down, at Ernestomeda, Fuorisalone attendees could come upon an outstanding kitchen designed by Giuseppe Bavuso, the acclaimed Italian interior designer. It too featured Atmosfera in Light Wafer with a silk finish.
Finally, at Palazzo Bovara, Elle Décor assembled a selection of SM Marble cubes, chosen by Elisa Ossino Studio in cooperation with Material Bank Europe. These cubes were abstract interpretations of the Material Bank samples that drive the design industry and allowed viewers to experience SM materials in a way they normally do not.
